This is a very enjoyable marathon tour: continuous up and downs with a low technical difficulty level. Our first ascent is among the olive trees of Laghel: a launching ramp towards the Roman bridge of Ceniga, which is on the same height as Arco, where we started from.
Now that our muscles are warm we continue north to get the forest rangers’ road running through pinewood; we have no time to get tired of the ascent because we soon find a descent to let our bikes run free until we reach Pietramurata, the northern gateway to the Marocche.
At this point we coast Lake Cavedine and start the ascent, a few hundred metres, to the hill that separates us from the Cavedine Valley.
This part of the return trip is beautiful: it passes near Drena Castle, a silent sentinel left there in old times to guard the nearby hamlets. This is the last downhill part before taking smaller country roads ending the tour.
