Goal of this tour is Malga Grassi. From Riva del Garda we start going uphill on paved and dirt roads surrounded by olive trees and vineyards.
We reach the small hamlet of Pranzo, dominated by Tenno Castle in front of it.
Some quick looks to the arcades of the stone walled old houses and we start again ascending towards Campi.
The scenery starts to change: the bright green of olive trees is replaced by the thick tones of centuries old chestnut trees while Lake Garda’s ramifications are the backdrop. We now pass the fields and the last houses of Campi: you will notice the magic of this place and realize why it was chosen by tribes of ancient times to celebrate their sacred rituals.
We now enter the woods and reach Malga Grassi. A “malga” is a mountain farm, typical of Trentino, South Tyrol and the whole Alpine range. These farms are usually also resting stations with plenty of wonderful local products.
A stop here is mandatory to taste some local dishes.
With body and soul satisfied by this stop we can jump on our bikes to take the trip back to Riva del Garda.
We start with an amusing single trail in the woods; after this a fast mule track will lead us above the rooftops of the town, passing besides the Bastione Tower.
